Houston and LA Are U.S. Cities Where Pandemic Life Is Hardest

Houston, Los Angeles and Detroit rank as the major U.S. cities where life under Covid-19 is hardest, according to a Bloomberg analysis of Census Bureau data.
The bureau has been carrying out regular surveys since early in the pandemic to measure its impact on households. The following table merges findings from five questions in the latest survey that address employment, ability to meet daily expenses, and food and housing security. A low score for each question means a worse situation.
