The November election is right around the corner and Fresno County officials are hoping to make it as smooth as possible.
So, the county is seeking to hire 50 to 100 election workers for its voting centers.
Fresno County Clerk and Registrar of Voters James Kus says multilingual people who work well with others and are savvy with technology are especially needed for election outreach coordinator positions.
“You’re actually assisting the voter to vote whether that’s helping them receive their mail-in ballot or checking in the voter so that they can fill out a ballot by hand,” said Kus.
Great Need for Bilingual Elections Workers
County officials say the election jobs are great for high school and college students, as well as retirees — or anyone looking for extra money for the holidays.
In addition, the county needs election workers who speak a variety of languages.
“The county is required by law to provide Spanish, Chinese, Hmong, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Vietnamese assistance at various (voting) locations,” said Kus.
“While we do have some support for those languages, we could really use more. We really want to be able to assist all of our voters in those languages.”
