NBC News projected Republican victories in the U.S. Senate races in Arkansas and Alabama on Tuesday night, keeping both seats in GOP hands.
In Arkansas, NBC projected Republican Sen. Tom Cotton would win reelection over Democrat Hallie Shoffner and Libertarian Jeff Wadlin. Cotton, who has served in the Senate since 2015, was seeking a third term. The Associated Press has also called the Arkansas race for Cotton.
In Alabama, Republican U.S. Rep. Barry Moore faced Democrat Everett Wess for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who opted to run for governor rather than seek another Senate term.
Moore has represented Alabama in the U.S. House and entered the Senate race with the backing of President Donald Trump.
The victories would keep two Republican-held Senate seats with the GOP as control of the chamber was decided in races across the country Tuesday.
