Fresno State and Fresno Unified are teaming up to provide details on California’s new Student Teacher Stipend Program, which offers a $10,000 one-time incentive.
The informational meeting is open to the public and is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, outside of the university’s Kremen School of Education and Human Development.
Aspiring teachers must complete at least 600 hours of clinical practice as part of their credential programs, a requirement that has typically been unpaid.
Additional $5,000 for Science, Math, Special Ed Student Teachers
California is investing $708 million through 2032 in the new stipend program, and it is expected to support about 12,500 teacher candidates annually.
In addition, beginning with the 2027-28 school year, candidates in high-need fields such as science, math, and special education could qualify for an additional $5,000 stipend.
