A 2-year-old boy died Tuesday after he was found unresponsive in an above-ground pool at a home in Cutler, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called just before 4 p.m. to a residence in the 12000 block of Alta Drive for a possible drowning. When they arrived, they learned the child had wandered into the backyard and was found unresponsive in the pool.

Deputies performed CPR before the boy was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation.
