The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said Vincent Xavier Deleon, 45, fled from detention deputy custody at about 11 a.m.

Deputies immediately began searching the surrounding area after the escape was reported.

Deleon was taken into custody without incident at about 12:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of Quincy Street, the sheriff’s office said.
