Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate the suspicious death of an Auberry woman who was reported missing in August 2021.
Bessie Walker, 27, was last seen either Wednesday, Aug. 4, or Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021. Family members filed a missing persons report with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 8, 2021. Her last known sighting was near Mono Wind Casino in Auberry, where she was wearing a pink dress and sandals.
During the initial investigation, deputies received information about several possible locations where Walker might have been. Authorities searched those areas but were unable to locate her.
On the night of Aug. 21, 2021, family members and friends who had formed a search party contacted the sheriff’s office after discovering a body on private property in the 37000 block of Auberry Mission Road. Deputies responded to the scene and located a deceased person.
The body was later identified as Walker.
