A Visalia man on active parole was arrested Wednesday after officers conducting a compliance search found drugs, weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition inside his home, police said.

The Tulare Area Gun Violence Enforcement Team, working with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and Visalia police units, searched a residence on the 2600 block of South Linda Vista Avenue belonging to Michael Johnsen, according to the Visalia Police Department.

Officers said they arrested Johnsen at the front door after finding he was in possession of methamphetamine. A search of the home led to the discovery of a privately made “ghost” AR-15 rifle, a 9mm pistol and about 300 rounds of ammunition.

Johnsen was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Detention Facility on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, possessing an assault weapon and possessing methamphetamine.
