A 16-year-old Woodville resident was arrested in connection with a threat of a school shooting at Monache High School, police said.

This comes a day after a 15-year-old girl was stabbed in a classroom at the school, prompting a lockdown as police arrested a 19-year-old suspect nearby.

The Porterville Police Department began receiving numerous community tips around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday regarding a social media post threatening a shooting at the high school, located at 960 North Newcomb Street.

The post reportedly included an image of a gun pointed at a television with a caption indicating an attack would occur on Wednesday.

Detectives worked overnight to identify the source of the threat, ultimately contacting a juvenile who attends Monache High.

Police said credible information linked the teen to the post.

A search of the suspect’s home revealed no firearms, and authorities determined the juvenile did not have access to weapons.

The teen was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and booked into a juvenile detention facility. The suspect’s name was not released due to state confidentiality laws.
