A man and a woman died early Thursday morning following a home invasion in Tulare, the Tulare Police Department said in a news release.

The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. near the intersection of East Prosperity Avenue and North Oaks Street.
Officers arrived to find two victims suffering from injuries. An adult male suspect was also discovered in the backyard and taken into custody. He was found with gunshot wounds, reportedly inflicted by someone inside the home.

Emergency medical personnel attempted to assist the shooting victims. A 38-year-old male died at the scene, and a 58-year-old female died after being taken to a hospital.

Authorities said there are no additional suspects at large.
