A now deleted social media post from an IDF soldier in December 2023 has resurfaced and is going viral on social media.

What Happened Then?
In December 2023, the Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor published survivor testimonies revealing that Israel Defense Forces officers brought Israeli civilians into detention centers to watch and film the torture of Palestinian prisoners, reported by Common Dreams.

The testimonies from detainees held at Zikim, near Gaza’s northern border, and a site affiliated with Naqab Prison in southern Israel, claimed that Israeli soldiers falsely presented them as fighters from Palestinian armed factions involved in the Oct. 7 attack on Israeli towns. The prisoners reported being beaten with metal batons, electrocuted, and scalded with hot water while groups of 10-20 Israeli civilians recorded and laughed during the torture sessions.
Omar Abu Mudallala, a 43-year-old former detainee, recounted, “I was arrested at the checkpoint set up near the Kuwait roundabout, which separates Gaza City from the central region, as part of the Israeli random arrest campaigns. I was subjected to all types of torture and abuse for approximately 52 days,. He added that IDF “brought Israeli civilians to watch our nude torture.”
He described multiple instances where civilians were brought in to film the abuse, noting that attempts to explain their innocence only led to further torture. “It was shameful to bring Israeli citizens to record our torture for alleged involvement in killings and rapes,” Abu Mudallala said.
