Parents, want your kids to have an early start on their education?

Fresno Unified School District is providing preschool and transitional kindergarten classes for youngsters, part of its Early Learning programs.

Preschool is available for children who will turn 3 or 4 by Dec. 1 of the school year the child is being enrolled. Children who turn 3 after Dec. 1 can be enrolled after that.

Parents can use the district’s school locator to find the school offering preschool that’s closest to their home. Part-day preschool classes are provided at nearly every Fresno Unified elementary school.

Full-day preschool is offered at five elementary schools — Calwa, Kirk, Lane, Lincoln, and Olmos — in partnership with the Fresno County Economic Opportunities Commission Head Start 0 to 5.

T-K Open to All

Transitional kindergarten is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten and is provided to older 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds. For the 2024-25 school year, the program is open to 5-year-olds whose birthday is between Sept. 2 and June 2. In the following year and subsequent years transitional kindergarten is open to children who turn 4 by Sept. 1.

Transitional kindergarten, which is free, is provided at every elementary school site.

Parents will need to compile documents, including birth certificate, proof of residency, immunization record and health assessment, and proof of income, before initiating the registration process.
