A 41-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after police said he threatened people with a knife at Stonebrook Park.

Visalia police responded to the park about 5:58 a.m. after receiving a report of a man waving a knife and threatening to stab people.

Officers located the man, identified as Bruno Barba, who police said fled on foot and resisted attempts to take him into custody.

Police deployed less-lethal force and took Barba into custody. Officers recovered a fixed-blade butcher knife from his possession.

Barba was transported to Kaweah Health for medical clearance and was expected to be booked on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a weapon, resisting or obstructing an officer, resisting an executive officer by force or threat, carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, and making criminal threats.
