Fresno police arrested 13 drivers on suspicion of DUI during a checkpoint Saturday, the department said.

The checkpoint was held at Clovis and Lamona avenues from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Police said officers contacted 371 vehicles during the operation. Twenty-four drivers were cited for driving without a license or with a suspended or revoked license.

The department said DUI checkpoint locations are selected based on reported impaired-driving crashes and are intended to remove suspected impaired drivers from the road and promote public safety.

Fresno police said their next DUI enforcement operation will be a saturation patrol scheduled for Sept. 19.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
