Looking for July 4th Fun? Downtown Fresno Offers Day-Long Celebration

Mayor Jerry Dyer has announced a series of Fourth of July events in downtown Fresno to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, with festivities stretching from morning through evening across multiple city blocks under the theme “One America, One Fresno.”

One America, One Fresno Celebration

When: 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday, July 4th

Where: Throughout downtown Fresno

The celebration, set for Saturday, will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and features cultural performances, live music, food vendors, a block party and a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game with a fireworks show.

The day kicks off at Mariposa Plaza, at the corner of Fulton and Mariposa streets, where cultural groups are scheduled to perform from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers say the Downtown Fresno Partnership-hosted event will feature performances from Hmong Culture & Arts Preservation, Teocali Cultural Academy, and the Fresno Lao Cultural Preservation Team, with more groups expected. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and visit nearby restaurants.

Also open throughout the morning and into the afternoon downtown museums will be open.. These include Veterans Memorial Museum Legion of Valor, 2425 Fresno St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the Archive on Kern, 2120 Kern St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and the Chinatown Cultural Heritage Center, 1526 Kern St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Afternoon Goes to the Brewery District

The afternoon shifts to the Brewery District, where Fresno Street Eats will host a Fourth of July Block Party along Fulton Street between Inyo and Mono streets, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The free, all-ages event at the Tioga-Sequoia Beer Garden, 745 Fulton St., offers a full entertainment lineup: The Reveal Talent Show with The Voice’s Ralph Edwards and Brad Jaurique, 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by live music from 30 Minute Download, 5:30 to 7 p.m., the Sounds of Freedom Military Band, 7 to 8 p.m., and a closing set from Ralph Edwards & Vibe Check, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs for the fireworks viewing.

The Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation is hosting a celebration at Kern Plaza, at Fulton and Kern streets, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Fresno Grizzlies are in action at Chukchansi Park, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and a fireworks show to follow.
