The Madera Police Department Special Investigations Unit conducted an enforcement operation over the past week targeting illegal fireworks and explosives across the community, officials said.

During the operation, investigators served four search warrants, seizing approximately 2,800 pounds of illegal fireworks and 11 firearms. Authorities also arrested three people on felony charges of illegal fireworks possession and one person on a misdemeanor charge.

Police said officers will continue patrols throughout the Fourth of July holiday weekend and urged residents to celebrate responsibly and use safe, legal alternatives for holiday festivities.
