The Visalia Police Department cited 11 drivers and motorcyclists for various traffic violations during a recent motorcycle safety enforcement operation aimed at improving roadway safety, according to the department.
Officials said additional motorcycle safety enforcement operations will take place throughout June as officers continue efforts to reduce crashes and encourage safer driving behaviors among all roadway users.
The department reminded drivers to stay alert for motorcycles, especially when making turns or changing lanes. Motorcyclists were encouraged to ride responsibly, obey traffic laws, wear DOT-compliant helmets and protective gear, and avoid unsafe speeds or maneuvers.
Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
