A man was shot multiple times Tuesday evening at a community park in Merced County, prompting a SWAT operation and multiple search warrants, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded just before 8 p.m. to Winton Community Park in Winton, where witnesses reported an adult male was shot in the parking lot while baseball practice was taking place nearby. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.

Detectives developed information on several persons of interest, and early Wednesday morning SWAT teams assisted in serving three search warrants in the 1000 block of Front Street in Livingston.

Detectives are currently speaking with two persons of interest, and the investigation remains ongoing.
