A 35-year-old man was arrested Sunday after allegedly attempting to flee from Visalia police officers twice during an encounter on the city’s west side.

Just before 6 p.m., officers patrolling the area of Campus and County Center streets contacted several individuals and learned that Edgar Figueroa was on probation, according to the Visalia Police Department.

Police said Figueroa initially fled on foot, prompting officers to establish a perimeter and deploy the department’s drone to assist in the search.

During the search, officers located Figueroa in the 3500 block of West Campus Street. Authorities said he again attempted to flee when officers tried to take him into custody but was quickly apprehended.

Figueroa was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of resisting, obstructing, and delaying a peace officer.
