Highway 178 through the Kern Canyon in Kern County was closed Friday because of a fire, and there was no estimated time for reopening, according to Caltrans Central Valley District 6. (Kern County FD)

Highway 178 through the Kern Canyon was closed Monday because of a fire, according to Caltrans.

Transportation officials said there was no estimated time for reopening the highway.

The Kern County Fire Department said that firefighters and additional resources are responding to the fire.
