A 21-year-old Modesto man was arrested after police served a search warrant connected to the illegal possession of explosive fireworks, authorities said.

The Modesto Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Team and Property Crimes Unit arrested Toby Ovrahim on Wednesday following an investigation into social media videos that allegedly showed him igniting M-style explosive devices, throwing them from a moving vehicle, and launching aerial fireworks in residential neighborhoods.

Investigators served the warrant at a residence in the 2400 block of Brandy Court in Modesto. Ovrahim was taken into custody without incident, police said.

During the search, investigators seized 130 M-style explosive devices, about 311 pounds of illegal fireworks, 12 firearms, one assault weapon, and 13 pairs of brass knuckles, according to police.

A Fire Investigation Unit investigator assisted in the investigation and took custody of the explosive devices.

Police said Ovrahim was issued a $12,000 administrative citation for Modesto municipal code violations related to illegal fireworks.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges including possession of explosive devices, possession of more than 100 pounds of illegal fireworks, possession of an assault weapon and possession of brass knuckles.
