A major music festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park is again offering couples the chance to tie the knot — this time, you could be the headliner.

Organizers of Outside Lands, set for Aug. 7-9, announced the return of “City Hall” for the 2026 festival, a program that allows legally binding weddings and vow renewals to take place on-site over all three days of the event.

The experience will feature two distinct settings; the festival’s main Lands End stage, where couples can exchange vows in front of tens of thousands of attendees, and a smaller, reimagined ceremony space called The Mission in Hellman Hollow.

At Lands End, ceremonies will unfold during a designated afternoon window, temporarily pausing music performances as crowds turn their attention to the couples. Each ceremony will be documented by a professional festival photographer.

For those seeking a quieter moment, The Mission will offer scheduled ceremonies throughout the day, complete with personalized elements and commemorative keepsakes in a dedicated space within the park.

Festival organizers say the program is designed to be inclusive and open to both engaged couples and those renewing their vows, with limited packages available across the weekend.

Weddings at Outside Lands 2025

The concept builds on a growing tradition at the festival.

At the 2025 event, more than a dozen couples took part in the unconventional ceremonies. Some had met at the festival itself, later returning to marry in the same setting.

Organizer Brynn Hardcastle told GV Wire at the time she drew inspiration from her own festival wedding in Chicago in 2023, aiming to bring a similar experience to Outside Lands attendees.

2024 marked the program’s debut with 21 weddings, followed by 19 ceremonies and one vow renewal in 2025.

Among the couples were Sarah and Alexander Benko of California, who said they wanted a celebration “as far from traditional as possible,” Hardcastle said. They invited strangers via social media, drawing a crowd of festivalgoers to witness their ceremony.

The couple said the event’s connection to social causes was also meaningful, noting that proceeds from City Hall ceremonies are donated to Lambda Legal, an organization focused on LGBTQ+ civil rights.

The pair, who met while working in Zion National Park, exchanged vows beneath a decorated arch as onlookers cheered, creating what they described as a deeply personal moment set against the backdrop of live music and festival energy.

Outside Lands City Hall 2026 Ceremony Packages
