A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday after a domestic disturbance call led officers to a nearby confrontation in which the man allegedly resisted arrest, assaulted an officer, and provided a false name, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to an undisclosed location for a reported domestic disturbance. When police arrived, a victim told officers she had been in a verbal argument with her boyfriend that became physical and said he had already left the area. Police did not identify the victim or the location to protect the victim.

Officers found the suspect nearby and detained him after he allegedly gave a false name and became combative, including resisting officers, kicking at them, and spitting on one officer.

The victim later positively identified the man as Ricardo Rodriguez and reported that during the argument he used his body to push her, causing her to fall. She had visible injuries to her left elbow and hand.

Rodriguez was transported to Fresno County Jail and booked on suspicion of felony domestic violence, resisting an executive officer, battery on a peace officer, providing false identification, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
