Clovis police said a stolen tips jar containing about $10 was recovered and a suspect was arrested after a drone helped officers track the person down outside a local donut shop.
The incident happened Monday when officers were dispatched to a donut shop near Fowler and Herndon avenues after a thief took a tips jar from the counter, according to the Clovis Police Department.
Police said the department’s Drone First Responder launched before officers arrived and located the suspect using overhead video from about 200 feet in the air, guiding responding officers to the individual seen on camera.
The suspect was arrested on a theft charge, and the tips jar and money were returned to the business.
Clovis police thanked the business for promptly reporting the incident and credited officers, dispatchers, and the drone pilot for the arrest and recovery.
