A 28-year-old woman was arrested Monday night after allegedly attacking her estranged spouse during an incident witnessed by their three children, police said.
Dulce Diaz Gutierrez was taken into custody around 10:50 p.m. following an 8:30 p.m. incident at the victim’s apartment, according to the Fresno Police Department. The victim and Gutierrez, who have been married for 10 years and separated three months ago, do not live together. They share three juvenile children.
Police said the confrontation began when Gutierrez arrived at the apartment and got into a disagreement with the victim. She allegedly grabbed the victim’s neck, leaving a visible mark, and then kicked the victim twice in the private area. The victim fell to the floor, where Gutierrez allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the back.
Gutierrez then reportedly grabbed a knife and made threatening statements toward the victim. The children were present but were not injured.
She was arrested on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, and exhibiting a deadly weapon.
