Jose Efrain Guardado, 32, had evaded law enforcement multiple times this year, including during a foot pursuit and a high-speed chase that was later terminated.

On July 3, he attempted to flee again but was safely taken into custody after a brief struggle, officials said.

Guardado faces several felony charges, including burglary, weapons violations, and felony evading. His bail has been set at $85,000.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation led by the Madera Special Enforcement Team, the Madera Narcotic Enforcement Team, and the Atwater Police Department.
