A person was rescued from a canal in Fresno on Monday morning, marking the third such incident in recent days, the Fresno Fire Department said in a statement.
Just after 9:30 a.m., Fresno police officers reported a person in the water near Dakota Avenue and Ninth Street and requested immediate assistance.
Fire crews, including members of the Water Rescue Team, responded to the scene.
Firefighters safely removed the individual from the canal and transferred the person to emergency medical services for evaluation and treatment.
Officials remind the public that canals are not recreational waterways and can be extremely dangerous.
They urge residents to stay clear of canals and use caution when nearby.
