Visalia police issued 53 citations to drivers and pedestrians during recent bicycle and pedestrian safety operations conducted on Tuesday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 20, the department said.
The citations were issued for a variety of violations as part of an effort to improve roadway safety.
“Safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility to keep other road users safe,” Officer Steven Waymire said. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to practice due care and to look out for one another.”
Another safety operation is scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday.
The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
