Law enforcement agencies from across Fresno County will gather Thursday to honor officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The 2025 Fresno County Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony will take place at noon Thursday at the Peace Officers Memorial in Courthouse Park, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office will join other local agencies to remember fallen colleagues whose names are etched on the memorial’s granite wall.

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the local memorial, which includes 64 names dating back to 1889.

The event coincides with the national observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day, held annually on May 15.

The date, established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, falls during National Police Week — a time when officers across the country don black bands over their badges in tribute to those killed while serving.

The Fresno County Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation was established in 1997 to lead efforts in honoring city, county, state and federal officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while working in Fresno County.
