A man was arrested Friday morning after leading police on a brief foot chase from a stolen vehicle, during which he was caught by a police K-9, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.

Officers responded around 11 a.m. to a report of a suspicious individual near West Austin Way and North Gregory Avenue.

According to the authorities, the man, later identified as Eduardo Ochoa, 30, was attempting to sell jeans in the neighborhood from a vehicle later determined to be stolen.

Police, including a K-9 unit, approached the vehicle after confirming its stolen status. Officers ordered Ochoa to exit, and he initially complied by raising his hands but then fled into a nearby field.

K-9 Zeke was released to take down Ochoa, who pulled what appeared to be a handgun as the K-9 closed in.

Police said the firearm fell to the ground during the struggle, and officers quickly secured Ochoa. He was found to be wearing body armor.

Ochoa was treated at a hospital for injuries from the K-9 before being booked on multiple felony charges.

Charges include possession of a stolen vehicle, prohibited possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest, authorities said.
