Fresno police are investigating a deadly shooting that left one man dead and another wounded Saturday afternoon on Cherry Avenue in southwest Fresno,.
Officers from the Southwest Policing District responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday regarding two gunshot victims on the 2200 block of South Cherry Avenue, the Fresno Police Department said in a news release.

Officers found Alfonso Salgado, 22, lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. Salgado was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound. He was released that evening in stable condition.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Detectives are searching for witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
