A Clovis man has died after being attacked by another individual in a local park last week, the Clovis Police Department reported.

On Aug. 27, officers responded to a report of an injured person at Bicentennial Park, located at Sunnyside and Sierra.

They found John Chandler, 52, unresponsive on the ground. Chandler was rushed to the hospital with severe head and facial injuries and died on Friday, authorities said.

Investigators found that the suspect, who was also homeless, struck the Chandler in a dispute over $40.

The suspect, Adrian Mondragon, 29, was arrested on Thursday and booked into Fresno County Jail on felony assault charges. Mondragon’s bail is $25,000.
