President Joe Biden is the least popular American president in 75 years, as reported by Newsweek.
His approval rating hit a low of 38.6% on the 1,202th day of his presidency, according to FiveThirtyEight’s aggregation of major polls. This is lower than any president since the 1940s when President Harry Truman had a similar rating of 38.9% at the same point.
In a recent Gallup Poll, Biden’s approval rating shows a pronounced partisan divide: 2% among Republicans, 34% among Independents, and 82% among Democrats. With less than six months until Election Day, this leaves Biden vulnerable to not being reelected.

Biden’s approval has been impacted by criticism over his handling of issues like the Israel-Hamas conflict and immigration, despite a slowing inflation rate and job growth.
While Biden is less trusted than Trump on the economy and immigration, he fares better on health care and abortion issues. Polls indicate Americans generally prefer Trump on economic matters but give Biden higher marks on handling the pandemic and job creation.
