How serious is the unfolding international incident over the alleged disappearance and murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi?

The criticism of the U.S. business dealings with the kingdom, both at the government and private business level, continues to grow.
While the Trump administration is hardly the first to foster a positive relationship with the Saudis, The Atlantic writers say that only Trump has done so “on such a galactic, unrestrained, and unreciprocated scale.”
