How serious is the unfolding international incident over the alleged disappearance and murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi?
“It should change everything about the United States’ long-standing relationship with Saudi Arabia. Regrettably, it probably won’t,” writes Aaron David Miller and Richard Sokolsky of The Atlantic.
The criticism of the U.S. business dealings with the kingdom, both at the government and private business level, continues to grow.
While the Trump administration is hardly the first to foster a positive relationship with the Saudis, The Atlantic writers say that only Trump has done so “on such a galactic, unrestrained, and unreciprocated scale.”
