Fresno held its 97th annual Veterans Day Parade. Long billed as the largest parade west of the Mississippi, the streets of downtown were lined with veterans, families and other parade watchers.
GV Wire spoke with the Grand Marshall, Lt. Col. Oliver North. The one-time Iran Contra scandal figure of the 1980s as remade his career as a veterans’ advocate and Fox News analyst.
We also found veteran David Esquivil of Fresno. He served his country, following the military roots of his father and preceding his son, Michael Rojas. Cpl. Rojas died in Iraq in 2007. Esquivil talks about what Veterans Day means to him.

Joining GV Wire in 2016, Taub covers politics, government and elections, mainly in the Fresno/Clovis area. He also writes columns about local eateries (Appetite for Fresno), pro wrestling (Off the Bottom Rope), and media (Media Man).
