The Central Unified School Board voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Assistant Superintendent of Education Services Ketti Davis as acting superintendent.
Superintendent Andy Alvarado was put on paid leave after his June 3 arrest on suspicion of felony corporal injury on a spouse or co-habitant. The victim was not identified by police.
Avarado’s annual salary is $215,373.
In addition to placing him on leave, the district also launched an internal administrative investigation.
Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp passed any possible prosecution on the case to the Madera County District Attorney after declaring a conflict of interest because of personal and professional relationships.
Alvarado released a statement earlier this month saying he is confident the criminal charge will be dropped and he will be reinstated to his position.
