A half-ton Iranian ballistic missile evaded Israeli air defenses, striking a synagogue in Beit Shemesh and killing 11 people, including three teenage siblings and a mother and son sheltering in a bomb shelter beneath the building, the Independent reported.
Despite devastation extending 200 meters from impact, residents voiced support for the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran initiated by President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The conflict began with strikes killing Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei and senior officials.
Iran has retaliated with sustained missile attacks, confining millions of Israelis to shelters and closing schools. Trump predicts victory in “four weeks or less,” while Netanyahu prefers prolonged conflict to topple the regime — revealing potential division between allies.
While war remains popular, some Israelis grow weary. “Three years of war is enough,” said Gili Perez, 50, whose teenage son sleeps in their shelter, referencing Israel’s retaliatory war against Hamas in neighboring Gaza.
