A 35-year-old felon from Long Beach pleaded guilty on Dec. 9 in federal court to illegally carrying a loaded firearm at Fashion Fair in Fresno.
According to court documents, police officers approached Chhoun Douring on May 6 of this year at the northeast Fresno shopping mall. During the encounter, Douring admitted to officers that he had a loaded 9 millimeter Ruger semi-automatic in his shoulder pouch.
Because of a previous robbery conviction, Douring is legally prohibited from possessing guns.
Fresno police, MAGEC, and the FBI investigated the case. The prosecutor is Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Jean Berger.
Douring is scheduled for sentencing on March 11, 2022. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
