Supervisor Magsig: State Policies Driving PG&E Rate Hike

The chorus voicing displeasure at a push by Pacific Gas & Electric to raise rates by 22 percent over the next three years added new members this week in the form of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors.
Joining his colleagues in opposing the increases, Supervisor Nathan Magsig pointed to California’s Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 and the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act of 2008 for bringing higher costs for utilities.
He said PG&E’s pursuit of “all these rate increases are really because of policies that are being set in Sacramento, and there are consequences.”
