A driver who falsely identified himself during a recent traffic stop was found to be a convicted felon, and officers recovered a loaded firearm and suspected drugs from the vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Porterville office.

The CHP said further investigation revealed the driver’s identity and felony status after he gave an officer false identifying information.

The agency did not provide the date or location of the stop, identify the driver, or specify the suspected drugs recovered.

It also did not say whether the driver was arrested or list any charges.
