The race for Fresno City Council District 1 changed after late-night ballot counts were updated, with Central Unified Trustee Naindeep Singh pulling ahead of State Center Community College District Trustee Rob Fuentes.

Initial counts had Fuentes slightly ahead of Singh.

The latest results show Singh leading Fuentes by 16 votes, giving him 50.09% of the vote. The Fresno County Registrar of Voters reports 10,068 votes cast in the race, representing just under 25% of eligible voters.

Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea currently holds the seat but chose to run for state Assembly, where she leads with 67.4% of the vote.

The registrar also reports 958 undervotes, meaning almost 10% of voters did not cast a vote for either candidate.

Registrar of Voters James Kus told GV Wire he does not expect another results release until Thursday.
