GV Wire will sit down with California Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula on Monday evening for a one-on-one interview about his campaign for Fresno City Council District 3.
Arambula, a Democrat who has represented the 31st Assembly District since 2016, is seeking a seat on the Fresno City Council after a decade in the state Legislature. A former emergency room physician, Arambula faces Fresno Unified School District trustee Keshia Thomas, who has represented the Edison High School area since 2018.
Thomas did not respond to GV Wire’s request to join the conversation. She is the subject of a defamation lawsuit filed by former Bullard High football coach Don Arax that is scheduled for jury trial in December.
Arambula and Thomas finished first and second, respectively, in the June primary, advancing to the Nov. 3 general election. They are competing to replace Councilmember Miguel Arias, who is termed out.

District 3 includes southwest Fresno, downtown, Chinatown, and portions of the Tower District.
Both candidates have opposed Fresno’s proposed Southeast Development Area expansion, while housing affordability, homelessness, and neighborhood development remain issues in the race.
GV Wire News Director Bill McEwen will lead the interview, focusing on Arambula’s vision for District 3, his legislative experience, and how he plans to address challenges facing Fresno residents.
GV Wire’s Facebook page will livestream the interview.
