California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine celebrated 165 first-year medical students in its Class of 2030 during a White Coat Ceremony last week.
The ceremony marked the beginning of the students’ medical school journey and their commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, according to CHSU.
John Graneto, dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, said the ceremony also marked a milestone for the university, with more than 1,000 medical students receiving white coats since 2020.
“Today, we are not only celebrating a milestone for each of you, but for our Valley’s medical school. Today marks the 1,000th student to walk across this stage and participate in the White Coat Ceremony,” Graneto said.
Julius Vo, a 2026 graduate of the CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Carrie Janiski, president of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California, presented the first student with a white coat during the ceremony.
The students’ white coats were donated in part by the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California, which works to support and advocate for osteopathic physicians in the state.
The association, founded in 1961, serves more than 17,000 doctors of osteopathic medicine across California.
