Ka-ching! The City of Fresno is receiving an additional $100 million from the State of California to fund infrastructure improvements in downtown Fresno, Mayor Jerry Dyer said Thursday.

Dyer announced that his chief of staff was returning from Sacramento with two checks, representing the final installment of the state’s infrastructure funding and bringing the city’s total state investment for downtown projects to $250 million.

The funding will help replace water and sewer mains, improve sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and streets, and support the construction of two parking garages with more than 1,500 spaces, Dyer said during Thursday’s City Council meeting.

With another $100 million now in hand, Fresno’s downtown transformation is getting a serious boost. The city says the funding will help lay the groundwork for a more connected, accessible, and housing-friendly downtown.
