Merced police arrested a suspect Tuesday after reports of explosions led investigators to a residence where officers said they found explosive devices, illegal fireworks, steroids and a short-barreled rifle.
The Merced Police Department said it received a tip from a community member about several explosions reported in the area of Teak Avenue in Merced County.
Information provided by residents helped officers identify a suspect and locate his residence within Merced city limits, police said.
Officers, assisted by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office and the police department’s Bomb Squad, served a search warrant at the residence. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
During the search, officers said they seized large quantities of steroids, illegal fireworks, explosive devices, and a short-barreled rifle.
The suspect was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of possession of destructive devices, controlled substances, dangerous fireworks, and a short-barreled rifle.
