Two men were arrested on multiple weapons charges after a reckless driving stop in Delano led officers to recover two pistols, including an unregistered “ghost gun,” police said.
A Delano police officer assigned to the Drug and Gang Reduction Unit observed a vehicle intentionally lose traction and spin its tires, commonly known as “busting donuts,” Sunday at the intersection of North El Dorado Circle and Almond Tree Way, police said.
Police said several residents and children were outside their homes and on nearby sidewalks at the time, creating a safety hazard.
The officer stopped the vehicle for reckless driving after it pulled into the driveway of a home in the 400 block of North El Dorado Circle.
During the investigation, officers found two pistols and several rounds of ammunition inside the vehicle, according to police. One of the firearms was an unregistered “ghost gun.”
Police said the driver, Eduardo Zepeda Navarro, 25, was identified as a previously convicted felon who is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
Navarro and passenger Ignacio Zepeda, 51, were arrested and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office jail on multiple weapons charges.
