A 24-year-old Visalia woman has been arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty after allegedly performing unauthorized medical procedures on animals that led to severe suffering and the death of a dog, police said.

The Visalia Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit began investigating after receiving reports that the woman was conducting medical procedures without proper qualifications or training.

Detectives found evidence that some of the procedures were recorded and shared on social media. Investigators also determined that proper anesthesia was not used, leaving animals to experience intense and unnecessary pain.

Police said multiple animals suffered serious complications and required emergency veterinary care. One dog died as a result.

The suspect, identified as Amanahy Becerra, was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday after a felony arrest warrant was issued. Detectives also served a search warrant at her residence.

Becerra was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
