The Fresno Police Department arrested 22 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday.

According to police, drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

The Fresno Police Department said it will conduct another DUI enforcement operation on March 21, along with a series of DUI enforcement patrols and checkpoints throughout the year aimed at keeping roadways safe.

Police said funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
