In contrast to what happened when a dangerous illegal biolab was discovered in Reedley on 2023, federal authorities responded immediately in Las Vegas.

Weeks before the raid, U.S. Reps. Jim Costa, David Valadao, and Kevin Kiley reintroduced a new bill to empower federal authorities to go after biological laboratories.

The bipartisan legislation would create a public health biosafety and biosecurity team as a single-point of contact for state, local, tribal, and territorial governments when suspicious labs are uncovered.
