Firefighters in Fresno responded late Sunday, Nov. 9, to a structure fire in the city’s Chinatown district that sent a man to the hospital, the Fresno Fire Department said in a statement Monday.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Fresno Fire Department crews arrived at 841 F Street to find smoke coming from a vacant commercial building.

The structure was heavily secured with multiple security bars and reinforced doors, which slowed firefighters’ efforts to gain entry.

Once inside, crews discovered an unconscious adult male. He was removed from the building and given emergency medical care on scene before being transported to Community Regional Medical Center, firefighters said.

Officials said the man survived and has since been released.
